Down Fabric Type
May 25, 2018

(1) Waterproof coating (covered) fabric

This type of fabric is somewhat similar to the Jackets fabric and has waterproof and moisture-permeable properties. It is generally used in professional alpine down jackets. But the difference is that the overall fabric will be thinner and softer than the jacket fabric. In addition, because down jackets are generally used in cold environments, the main focus is on the melting of solid water in ice and snow. Therefore, the requirements for water pressure resistance of fabrics are not as high as those of jackets, and most down jackets made of waterproof fabrics are not pressed. Plastic. Another point to note is that some inexpensive down coats use airtight coated fabrics to prevent leakage, and if they are only worn everyday, they can be considered.

(2) High-density waterproof fabric

The density of the fabric itself is very high, generally above 290T. Then through the high temperature fusion surface fabric to reduce fabric gap post-processing technology, improve anti-velvet. The lightness and softness of the fabric is the highest among all down apparel fabrics, and it is also windproof, water repellent and breathable. These fabrics are the most widely used fabrics for down jackets and down sleeping bags, but the level of post-processing technology has a great influence on the anti-velvet properties of fabrics. There are also some outdoor brands using ultra-lightweight materials to increase the waterproof and anti-drilling function of down jackets!

(3) Ordinary woven fabrics and anti-velvet fabrics are generally made of nylon or polyester with lower density. When down jackets are produced, anti-adhesive fabrics are added to the inside of the fabric, which can play the role of anti-velvet, and the anti-velvet performance is good. The disadvantage is that the fleece-proof cloth affects the softness of the down jacket and increases the weight of the entire coat. The most important thing is that if you use a low-quality fleece, the air permeability of down jackets will be greatly reduced, and after washing, the fleece fabrics are easily broken or clumped. The other way is to make anti-velvet treatment, the process is to brush a layer of anti-velvet adhesive in the fabric layer, fabric feel bad, and airtight. Representative fabrics: Many, but not well-known fabric manufacturers.
